About Kristen Graham

I attended the Girard, KS School District from K-12. Then moved onto Pittsburg State University to get a Bachelor of Technology in Commercial Graphics. While at PSU, I was employed by Student Publications for 3 years where I experienced many rolls... Newspaper Page Layout Designer, Yearbook Editor in Chief and Graphic Designer, and Advertising Representative. It was also in my years at PSU that I met my wonderful husband Doug. My husband and I have settled back in my hometown where we are close to both of our wonderful families. I have now been in the print industry for 2 years (post college), working as a Graphic Designer and Type Setter for a Vender that coats and print labels using a Flexographic Press. I try and keep involved in the Graphic Industry by taking on small side projects... invitations, websites and various commercial items.

Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God

December 30th, 2017 | Posted by Kristen Graham in Uncategorized - (Comments Off on Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God)

New Year’s Eve/Sunday:
St. Michael at 5:30pm

New Year’s Day/Monday:
St. Michael at 10:00am
St. Joseph at 12:00pm

…………………………………….

We close out the Christmas octave—the eight days following the birth of Christ—with a day honoring Mary as the Mother of God. Take time to read about the Mother of God today.

Reflect:
January 1 is also the World Day of Peace. In his World Day of Peace Message for 2017, Pope Francis said:

“On this occasion, I would like to reflect on nonviolence as a style of politics for peace. I ask God to help all of us to cultivate nonviolence in our most personal thoughts and values. May charity and nonviolence govern how we treat each other as individuals, within society and in international life. When victims of violence are able to resist the temptation to retaliate, they become the most credible promotors of nonviolent peacemaking. In the most local and ordinary situations and in the international order, may nonviolence become the hallmark of our decisions, our relationships and our actions, and indeed of political life in all its forms.”

Helping Families in Need

December 1st, 2017 | Posted by Kristen Graham in Uncategorized - (Comments Off on Helping Families in Need)

St. Michael’s Church had a successful food drive for the Girard Food Pantry! Thank you so much to parish members and the Altar Society for donations. Joan Davied said her vehicle was packed full for today’s delivery. We look forward to more food drives to help support a valuable local ministry.

Did you know Girard has a Food Pantry?

It is housed at First Christian Church on Summit Street and supported by Girard’s Ministerial Alliance. Many local churches, business, and organizations help keep it stocked and we are happy to do our part. Here’s where you can find it:

First Christian Church
202 N. Summit
(620) 724-8910
Open 10 a.m. to noon Mondays and Wednesdays or by appointment

Donations can be made at the back of St. Michael’s Church.

Girard also has a “Blessing Box” that is almost always in need of “Blessings” (i.e. non-perishable items). It is located outside of the apartments down the street from the Elementary School and St. Michael’s Church.
