St. Michael’s Parish, I wanted to give you an update on our Religion Program (PSR). But first off, before I lose anyone, we are looking for teachers! At this time, we don’t have enough teachers and volunteer helpers to have any face-to-face classes. We would REALLY like to see the students (that are comfortable to meet face-to-face) in person, but without teachers and extra help, that won’t be possible. If you are open to teaching or helping in our PSR program in an in-person setting, please get in touch with me at 620-875-6133 or Kristen.firstname.lastname@example.org.
So for that update! If you can imagine, it will likely look different this year and we don’t yet have a starting date. The Diocese of Wichita sent us guidelines a few weeks ago to aid us in keeping students and teachers safe in our program if we are able to meet face-to-face. Because of our small classroom sizes, the number of safety precautions, and the number of teachers, our best-case scenario of meeting in person will likely entail classes on rotation. Each student would have one in-person class a month and we would provide assignments or parent-led lessons for the class periods in between. There is also a chance that classes will be held on Sunday this year versus our normal Wednesdays (this especially applies to elementary grades.) If we can’t meet in person, or if a family doesn’t feel comfortable attending face-to-face, we will provide either grade-level or family-style curriculum.
I thank you all for your patience and prayers. If you can help or would like to express any thoughts or concerns, please feel free to get in touch with me!
